DIRECTOR'S STATEMENT

Welcome to Left of Center...an alternative, and essential, view of the contemporary art scene, interpreted through the eyes of artists who are committed to building respect for cultural diversity. Our exhibits reflect the times we live in and the past history that made us who we all are. The visual arts are an educational tool to refine perception, teach respect for cultural difference, and a medium of communication and cultural exchange.

MISSION STATEMENT

Left of Center is committed to promoting the visual arts as an educational tool to enhance inter-cultural understanding of social issues, both past and present.

WHO WE ARE

Left of Center Gallery is a 501(c) non-profit organization. With artwork showing a diversity in style and media, Left of Center is administered by artist/educators who are committed to cultural exchange. Resident artistis hold workshops and gallery talks, classes for adults and young adults, mentoring programs, community art projects and teacher education collaborations.

HOW WE WORK WITH THE COMMUNITY

  • Work with other local organizations to provide scholarship opportunities for student artists.
  • Work to coordinate student art exhibits and workshops
  • Work with Nevada teachers to advance the quality of art education in Nevada.
  • Resident artists speak to local school and civic groups
  • Work as volunteering and as mentoring
  • Promote minority artists in the community gallery spaces
  • Work with organizations to promote inter-cultural exchange
