MEETING COMMUNITY NEEDS
Realizing the importance of serving the artistic/multicultural needs of our community, we present a wide spectrum of exhibits and events that we feel reflect the diversity of our local enviroment. LOC believes in a very hands-on, personal involvement with those that we serve, and take our mission as using art as a way to connect with people very seriously. By "bringing art to the people," and making the art more accessible to the community, the outreach goal is to create a rapport based on respect for cultural diversity.

LOC works cooperatively on programming, mentoring, seminars and workshops with the following organizations that represent the community we serve:

  • Nevada Arts Educators Association
  • Las Vegas Watercolor Society

  • West Las Vegas Citizens Advisory Council
  • Las Vegas-Clark County Library District
  • Las Vegas Chamber of Commerce
  • City of Las Vegas Arts Commission
  • Department of Parks and Recreation
  • UNLV
  • Contemporary Arts Collective
  • WESTAF
Public art project sponsored by the City of Las Vegas
Visual artists exhibiting at Left of Center are required to present a resume and slides as well as go through an interview process. Each artist selected is required to provide an educational component to their exhibit which can be an instructional workshop, art talk, or participation on panels dealing with art issues. They may also develop educational questions or games to lead the viewer through the exhibit. The following components are used as assessment tools to aide in the evalution process of the organization:
  • Artist's Advisory Board/input discussions
  • Quarterly review by Board of Directors
  • Log of Community requests for exhibits, consultations, and classes
  • Guest Book-used to measure patron interest, comments on exhibits, and repeat visitation to the gallery
  • Participation in LOC events
  • Library Video resource usage
