Tax I.D. number: 88-0355511 ALSO ON DISPLAY Left of Center Art Gallery, recipient of the Las Vegas Life Magazine’s 100 distinction presents a rare opportunity for valley residents to experience authentic African art in its latest exhibit entitled "AFRICA: The Source". The exhibit includes pieces from all across Africa- from traditional to contemporary, complimented by African inspired artwork by Left of Center resident artists Sylvester Collier, Harold Bradford, Vicki Richardson and more. Masks, sculpture, musical instruments, textiles and more embody a spirit that is deeply and truly African. Visitors to the exhibit can learn about the history and purpose behind the art, making it a truly interactive experience. We at Left of Center want to use the exhibit as an educational tool encouraging schools and community groups to take advantage of this unique opportunity in our state. Soon to come, students and other art enthusiasts can expect a related film series with available discussion groups.  Left of Center is a non-profit gallery administered by artists and educators who are committed to cultural exchange. Resident artists often work in Left of Center’s natural light studio space to demonstrate the techniques and discipline required for a work in progress. Resident artists also hold workshops, gallery talks, classes for adults and young adults, mentoring programs, community projects and teacher education collaborations. The gallery’s exhibit and studio space are designed to meet the educational and community vision that is Left of Center. An opening reception for "AFRICA: The Source" will take place Saturday, February 22, 2003 from 3:00 to 5:00 P.M., featuring the music of AFRICA BOTE. Admission is free.
